What is Positive Intervention?

Positive Intervention is a proactive approach to managing and supporting challenging behaviour. It focuses on using a mix of verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques, along with strategies for repairing and reflecting on challenging situations. When necessary, it incorporates safe and humane physical interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Developing Positive Intervention Skills: Gain skills in Positive Intervention, which encompass verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.

Understanding Legal Responsibilities: Familiarise yourself with legal duties and government guidance that underpin your responsibilities in the school environment.

Implementing Prompts, Guides & Restrictive Physical Interventions: Learn about the practical application of guides, escorts, and restrictive physical interventions when necessary to keep children safe.

Reflecting on Practice and Well-being: Engage in reflective practice to enhance both your professional approach and personal well-being.

How can we support your school?

We deliver flexible, high-impact training designed around your school’s needs — available as a full-day session or split across two twilight sessions to fit seamlessly into your timetable.

To support schools in navigating this critical area, Teach+ has partnered with The National Federation of Personal Safety (NFPS). This ensures your staff receive the most up-to-date, evidence-informed personal safety guidance — empowering them to feel confident, capable, and supported in their roles.

Our experienced trainers bring specialist expertise across a range of areas, including SEMH and Complex Needs. This means your training isn’t generic — it’s tailored, relevant, and responsive to the specific challenges your school community faces.

With Teach+, your team gains practical strategies, increased confidence, and the reassurance that they are working in line with current best practice.
